We are delighted to announce a truly special event: A Midsummer Night's Dream in the idyllic setting of the Schlossgarten in Oldenburg! Twenty years ago this timeless masterpiece was performed here and won the hearts of many Oldenburg residents. Now we are reviving that tradition with a brand-new production.

Join us for a magical evening - spread out your picnic blanket amid the enchanting surroundings of the castle garden.

But what is it actually about? Love, of course! A loves B, but B doesn't love A - B loves C, and C loves A, naturally - and so on: you don't love me, but I love you. Nothing has changed since Shakespeare's day. Pure chaos! To sort it all out - off to the Schlossgarten!

Luckily the Duke loves the right person. Which Duke? The Duke of Oldenburg, of course - Peter Ludwig. The very man who wrested the Schlossgarten from nature, from the Hunte floodplain, which is why Oberon and Titania... but more on that later.

So the Duke wants to marry. Does he summon all of Athens? No - he summons all of Oldenburg to the celebrations! A feast! In the Schlossgarten! A picnic on the grass! Let the spirit of merriment awaken everywhere!

Meanwhile, Oberon and Titania, rulers of the fairies, are quarrelling. This throws nature into disorder, and so love must intervene - not between the two of them, but between humanity and nature. At least in a dream. In Bottom's dream, so to speak. And who exactly is Bottom?

Bottom belongs to an amateur theatre group that wants to perform the "Comedy of Pyramus and Thisbe" at the wedding. Where? In the Schlossgarten, of course! So: pack your picnic, bring friends and family, and let the art of theatre work its magic.
