Tovesco-Trio
Veronika Rädler, violin / Tatu Kauppinen, cello / Francesco Maccarrone, piano
With a fresh sound and a keen ear for musical subtlety, the rising Tovesco-Trio brings together three masterworks from different eras. Joseph Haydn's Trio in E-flat major Hob.XV:29 radiates the wit and elegance of Viennese Classicism. Rebecca Clarke's Piano Trio, written in 1921, opens a window onto the richly coloured sound world of early modernism. The British composer is regarded as the most important female composer of her country in the interwar period, and her piece lets passion and melancholy collide. Robert Schumann's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 63 is steeped in romantic introspection - charged with emotional tension and lyrical depth. Schumann dedicated it to his sister Clara, whose refined sense of expression and form shaped his understanding of the trio in fundamental ways.
The young Tovesco Trio was founded in 2021 and earned tonight's appearance at the Hohenloher Kultursommer as the prize of the International Chamber Music Master Course of Jeunesses musicales in Weikersheim. The trio has won multiple awards and has already performed at the Elbphilharmonie, the Berliner Philharmonie, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
