Regensburger Domspatzen — Kirche Nieder-Moos, Freiensteinau

1050 YEARS OF REGENSBURGER DOMSPATZEN

Soft and loud, fragile and urgent, romantic and mystical. It is this clear, warm choral sound that has made the Regensburger Domspatzen famous and unmistakable for decades. Founded in 975 in Regensburg as a cathedral school, the Domspatzen and their 1050-year tradition rank among the most renowned boys' choirs in the world. Wherever the young musicians perform, the applause sounds the same in every language: enthusiastic.

The young singers take their audiences on a musical journey through the centuries - from monophonic Gregorian chant through Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire all the way to contemporary music. For Nieder-Moos they have assembled a programme of highlights from 1050 years of choral history, featuring sacred works by Palestrina, Mendelssohn and Bruckner alongside secular songs. The oldest boys' choir in the world presents itself as a vibrant, dynamic a cappella ensemble.

"The Regensburger Domspatzen are not just a choir - they are a living piece of cultural history, for over 1050 years!"
