EIGHT CELLISTS OF THE VIENNA PHILHARMONIC
What do orchestra musicians do when they enjoy playing together so much that they miss each other even in their free time? They form an ensemble.
For this reason, the eight cellists of the Vienna Philharmonic - Christoph Stradner, Erik Umenhoffer, Bence Temesvári, Alexandra Ströcker, Anna Nagy, György Bognár, Maria Grün and Primož Zalaznik - indulge their passion for ensemble playing in both original compositions and their own arrangements, which offer fresh and surprising perspectives on familiar works.
The Eight Cellists of the Vienna Philharmonic were founded in 1980. Over the following decade, they performed more than 100 concerts at home and abroad.
This ensemble makes it possible to explore the widest range of sound spaces. The musical ideas are realized by drawing on the full palette of the instrument - from the virtuosic brilliance of the soprano register through the sweet fullness of eight tenor voices to the deep bass foundation.
The combination of eight identical instruments creates new and fascinating connections in the listener's ear. The Cinemascope arrangement adds to the effect. You will need both ears.
