Walk through Jewish Halberstadt
Klaussynagoge, Halberstadt, Germany
12 €
Halberstadt's urban layout still makes it possible to trace the history of Jews as a religious minority in an exemplary way for the German-speaking world.
The "Walk through Jewish Halberstadt" highlights the historical conditions in which Jews lived, presents them as active citizens of the city, and explores the internal religious development of Halberstadt's Jewish community.
The walk begins at the Klaussynagoge in the former Jewish quarter below the Petershof - once the bishop's palace and later the seat of the Prussian government. The route passes through the Peterstreppe, the cathedral square, and the two oldest Jewish cemeteries, then returns to the lower town and ends with a visit to the art project "Und der Lebende nehme sich das zu Herzen..." at the site of the destroyed Baroque synagogue and the Berend Lehmann Museum in the Mikwenhaus.
