Northern German Baroque - Trumpet & Organ

"An Wasserflüssen Babylon"

Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Böhm, Johann Wilhelm Hertel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi, and Georg Friedrich Händel illuminate different facets of trumpet and organ music from the 17th and 18th centuries. Special focus is placed on the chorale "An Wasserflüssen Babylon", which played a central role in the Northern German organ tradition and is connected to Bach's Hamburg improvisation of 1720. A free organ improvisation by R. Müller on this chorale bridges Baroque tradition with a contemporary musical perspective.
