The Threepenny Opera

Performances of "The Threepenny Opera" by Bertolt Brecht (text) and Kurt Weill (music), in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann and featuring a prologue "Jonathan Wild Wants to Set an Example" by Rafael David Kohn, inspired by Bertolt Brecht, with music by Adrian Rinck, take place in front of Schloss Bad Bergzabern.
In the prologue, the audience departs from Schlosshotel Bergzaberner Hof and walks through the old town of Bad Bergzabern along Königsstrasse, past the Auspurger winery, along Markstrasse to the castle. After a 30-minute intermission, The Threepenny Opera unfolds on the castle steps on a specially built theatre stage and concert pavilion. The performance runs 2.5 hours. The open space between Königsstrasse and the stage is furnished with seating.
From 5 p.m., meals are served in the Olive restaurant at Schlosshotel Bergzaberner Hof, which can be pre-booked. Wines from participating wineries are also available (Weingut Knöll, Weingut Vogel/Bad Bergzabern, Stiftsweingut Frank Meyer/Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach).
