Alexander Huber - Professional Mountaineer

In his lecture, Alexander Huber takes the audience on a journey through his most beautiful moments in the mountains - from the limits of eleventh-grade climbing difficulty in Alpine walls, through the climbing island of Sardinia, to the thin air of the Karakorum above 6000 meters. Photographs and film sequences combine with the idea that Reinhard Karls formulated in his book "Erlebnis Berg: Zeit zum Atmen" ("Mountain Experience: Time to Breathe") more than forty years ago: mountains as a place of self-discovery and reflection - and the realization that you never conquer the mountain, but always only yourself.

Alexander Huber, born in 1968, is a state-certified mountain guide who abandoned his scientific career as a physicist in 1998 to dedicate himself fully to mountaineering. His most notable achievements include the first redpoint ascent of Eternal Flame on Nameless Tower, the first ascent of the west face of the seven-thousander Latok II, free-solo climbs, and speed records on the Bigwalls of Yosemite. Together with his brother Thomas, he ranks among the most respected mountaineers of our time - with over 2000 lectures in five languages, eight books, and a hundred magazine covers in the specialist press.

The film "Am Limit" (2007) won the Bavarian Film Prize and the German Camera Prize. Alexander Huber received the Bavarian Sports Prize in 2008, the Bavarian State Medal in 2010, and the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2023.
