Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ): "Bringing Django Reinhardt's sound into the 21st century - Marion & Sobo Band pull it off effortlessly on their third album Gomera"
Jazzthethik: "Music rooted in nearly a century-old Jazz Manouche, yet reshaped and refreshed with new influences."
SWR2: "Marion & Sobo Band are truly a group of passionate musicians you really should catch live - the spark flies in an instant, that much is certain".
This German-French-Polish band has carved out its own style at the crossroads of global music and vocal jazz, proving that handcrafted acoustic music can be not only delicate, contemplative and colourful, but - even without drums - high-energy and powerful. Multilingual French singer Marion Lenfant-Preus and Polish guitarist Alexander "Sobo" Sobocinski have spent over 13 years together pursuing the idea of music without categories, made for audiences across generations and cultures. They do it with charm, humour, lightness and sheer joy of playing.
The well-travelled musicians now present their third studio album: "Gomera", dedicated to the scenically and culturally rich Canary Island where the two spent many winters and gathered countless song ideas. MARION & SOBO BAND is stylistically wide-ranging - songs in French, Spanish, English, German and Romani, acrobatic solos on guitar and violin, scat singing, original compositions and fresh takes on old classics that the band "transforms into the here and now" (Jazzpodium).
