Four hundred years ago, Christina (also known as Kristina) of Sweden was born. In the middle of the Thirty Years' War, she lost her father, King Gustav Adolf II, at the age of six, and soon succeeded him to the throne - only to abdicate voluntarily at 27 and go into exile in Rome.
Germanist and theatre scholar Jutta Jacobi has dedicated her latest book to this remarkable ruler: "Königin ohne Land. Kristina von Schweden". The reading takes place on the island of Usedom - the very land over which Kristina once held sway.
