Queen Without a Country - Reading

Four hundred years ago, Christina (or Kristina) of Sweden was born. In the midst of the Thirty Years' War, at the age of six, she lost her father King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden and soon inherited his throne. Yet at twenty-seven, she voluntarily renounced her crown and went into exile in Rome.

Germanist and theatre scholar Jutta Jacobi dedicated her latest book, "Queen Without a Country: Christina of Sweden", to this extraordinary woman. On the island of Usedom, of which the queen was once ruler, she presents it to the public.
