Stefan Verhasselt is the Lower Rhine's own cabaret artist - many also know him as a WDR4 radio presenter. With sharp, occasionally wonderfully off-kilter humour, he "philosophises" his way through the quirks and absurdities of modern society in his sixth cabaret programme, pointing out what we mess up and mangle every day. No costumes, no stage sets - just wit, always above the belt, and genuine warmth for his fellow human beings. The aim: audiences leave thinking, "That's exactly it - just like back home".

The new show covers cows working from home, dogs in transitional little coats, and artificial intelligence in cabaret. Along the way, you'll find out why young people have stopped eating asparagus but put everything in bowls, how data privacy is really holding up around us, and what exactly "goes" on the Lower Rhine. The programme also thrives on "associative prakesieren" - a trait that seems hardwired into Lower Rhinelanders like Verhasselt: one moment you're pondering when the brown bin will next be emptied, the next you've drifted to the rumour about who's currently on their deathbed. Odd, but oddly lovely. A flash of dark humour surfaces now and then.
