Film synopsis:
It starts as a simple formality: Heribert (Hape Kerkeling), long-serving chairman of the Lengenheide tennis club, and his ambitious deputy Matthias (Friedrich Mücke) put a vote to the members on buying a barbecue grill for the next club party. Trendy Berlin-turned-provincial copywriter Torsten (Christoph Maria Herbst) tosses out a quip to speed up the dull meeting. Then his wife Melanie (Anja Knauer) suggests buying a second grill for their doubles partner Erol (Fahri Yardim), the club's only Muslim member - because devout Muslims cannot grill their sausages on the same rack as pork. The well-meaning idea spirals sentence by sentence into a chaotic clash where atheists and believers, Germans and Turks, do-gooders and hardliners collide head-on. It quickly becomes clear to everyone: this is about far more than a grill...
