Film Description:
2001: A Space Odyssey (Sci-Fi) is a countdown into the future, a perspective on humanity's fate, a search for infinity. With its breathtaking visual effects (Oscar-winning), the inescapable conflict between human and machine, and the overwhelming fusion of music and movement, the film became so influential that Steven Spielberg defined it as the "Big Bang" that shaped his generation of filmmakers. Perhaps "2001" is Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece (who wrote the screenplay together with Arthur C. Clarke) - in any case, it will continue to shock, inspire, and captivate generations to come.

Before his journey into the future, Kubrick visits our prehistoric, ape-like ancestors, then (in one of cinema's most audacious cuts) leaps across thousands of years: humanity has established colonies in space. From there, Kubrick sends astronaut Bowman into the depths of the cosmos, beyond the limits of human imagination - and perhaps even toward immortality. "Open the pod bay doors, HAL!" An absolutely unique journey filled with wonder and mystery can begin...
