When Louis Armstrong left New Orleans for Chicago in 1922 to play in King Oliver's band, when whiskey was drunk from teacups and cigarettes smoked through long carved holders, when the skirts and hairstyles of young ladies grew shorter by the season - that was when hot jazz was born, the style to which REDHOUSE HOT SIX from Freiburg have dedicated themselves.

Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Duke Ellington are the godfathers when the band gets going. One reviewer put it plainly: "The band simply could not be stopped... the whole place was one seething cauldron... I had the feeling the roof was about to lift off!"
