Rising

The six-voice vocal ensemble Lyyra from the USA presents the programme "Rising", bringing together works from several centuries - from William Byrd's Renaissance polyphony to arrangements of Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish and Laura Mvula. Sacred and secular themes, old and new sonic worlds enter into dialogue.

The pieces speak of community, hope, freedom and compassion - showing how choral music connects people across time, genre and language.

The programme includes works by William Byrd, Emily King, Don MacDonald, Paul Simon, Leslie Savoy Burrs, Manning Sherwin, traditional Appalachian songs, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish, Laura Mvula and Dolly Parton.
