Fulminant Folk: From Budapest to the Balkans - Folk Concert

Five virtuosos from the ensemble Foaie Verde ("green leaf") deliver a musical fireworks display brimming with emotion from the Balkans. They hail from four different European countries and fuse Hungarian and Romanian folk music, rapid Balkan sound, and Serbian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Albanian, and Turkish music into an irresistible musical feast. The ensemble led by violin virtuoso Sebastian Mare and charismatic singer Katalin Horvath captures the pure joy of life from the passionate music of Southeast European countries in entirely original, remarkably multi-faceted arrangements and offers a musical experience that has no equal in Germany.

With Jordan Djevic on accordion, Frank Wekennmann on guitar, and Veit Hübner on double bass, the band is internationally composed and first-rate. Together, Foaie Verde explores all dimensions of musical expression and transports listeners into an ecstatic whirl of tones and sounds through impressive stage presence.

Bold rhythms and breathtaking passages on violin, accordion, guitar, and double bass meet emotionally charged vocals, unbridled energy and joie de vivre, alternating with quiet, melancholic sounds.
