Do you know the kitchen song "Mariechen saß weinend im Garten"?

On 13 September 2026 at 5 pm, the group Bernstein invites you to the beautiful hall of Palais Zabeltitz for their programme "...´s traurig, aber wahr..." - an evening of moritats and songs once sung during kitchen work.

The themes revolve mostly around lost love and the tragic fate of young women, often ending in death. Over time these songs became folk classics that beg to be sung along to - especially when the subject turns to wine. Let yourself be drawn in: "Sabinchen, das Frauenzimmer" will bring a tear to your eye, while chilling tales of robbers - delivered with a wink, in colourful period costumes - will send a shiver down your spine.
