Traum und Sehnsucht - New Arrangements from the German-Jewish Songbook
Philippuskirche, Leipzig, Germany
20 €
Conductor: Robert Göstl
In this chor.com concert, the distinctive Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode presents nine award-winning choral arrangements from the "Traum und Sehnsucht" edition, which emerged from the German Choral Association's international arrangement competition on musical remembrance culture. The choir brings Hebrew and German song traditions from the "German-Jewish Songbook" of 1912 into a moving dialogue, demonstrating how contemporary composers build bridges between past and present - a resonant plea for living German-Jewish culture and shared remembrance. The works are complemented by choral repertoire that the young singers themselves selected as fitting.
Programme:
Henning Wölk (1994): Heimweh; El-Hatsipor; Jutta Michel-Becher (1965): Träume der Nacht; Ohad Stolarz (1989): Abendgrüße; Der 122. Psalm; Yonatan Harari, Yonatan Yochay: Wandrers Nachtlied; Ha-dagim; Yannick Wittmann (1996): Evening Scene; Jens Klimek (*1984): An meinen Engel; and further works selected by the singers to complement the programme
