Waiting for the Bus - by Oliver Bukowski — HALLE 19, Celle

A bus stop in the middle of nowhere - "the godforsaken junction between civilization and the absolute back of beyond". This is where Ralle and Hannes meet every day, two old friends whose better days are firmly behind them. They wonder where they went wrong in life, grumble about society, dream, argue, drink canned beer and wait - for a brighter future, among other things, and for Kathrin, the pretty bus driver who always gives them a smile, even though she's "way out of their league".

Ralle and Hannes are loveable full-time philosophers with a sharp tongue and a good heart - two people who rarely get a word in edgeways in ordinary life, and who refuse to be rattled by anything, whether rowdy teenagers or dopily devoted dogs.

"Warten auf 'n Bus" by Oliver Bukowski began as a comedy series on rbb, which became an instant hit after its 2020 release, earned nominations for the Deutschen Fernsehpreis and the Grimme-Preis, and stands in the tradition of cult series like "Tatortreiniger" and "Dittsche". The stage adaptation, like the series, draws its life from the characters and their comic, timeless exchanges.
