Festive Christmas music at St. Martin: Bach for listening and singing along on the third Sunday of Advent
The third Sunday of Advent at St. Martin is dedicated to one of the most famous and beloved works of the Advent and Christmas season: Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio. The Kantorei St. Martin invites you to a special concert experience - for listening and singing along, filled with festive music, touching chorales, and impressive choral works.
Under the sounds of the famous opening chorus "Jauchzet, frohlocket," a musical afternoon and evening unfolds, transporting listeners into Bach's Christmas soundscape. Familiar chorales and festive movements bring the message of Christmas to life and create a special atmosphere of reflection and anticipation.
Beside the Kantorei St. Martin, young singers from the children's choir also participate, creating a vibrant and intergenerational sound together.
The concert combines musical enjoyment with social commitment: five euros from each ticket sold go to the "Aktion Advent" campaign of the HNA newspaper, helping people in difficult life circumstances in northern Hesse experience a more carefree Christmas.
On December 13, Cantatas I-III of the Christmas Oratorio are performed in two shows at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in St. Martin Church.
The Kantorei St. Martin cordially invites you to let Bach's music touch your heart, sing together, and show solidarity with those in need.
