Among the sun-drenched vineyards of the Kaiserstuhl, a new era dawns in the mid-1970s. It is the story of Johanna - the first in her family to attend university, who breathes in the freedom of a shared flat in Freiburg, only to be forced back to her family roots by a stroke of fate. Suddenly, responsibility for the winery rests on the shoulders of three generations of women. In a world that denies them courage, grandmother, mother and daughter resist every obstacle in their way.
Johanna carves out her own path: as a single mother and activist in the peaceful protest against a planned nuclear power plant. By her side burns the fire of friendship with Luzie. Together, these women show that tradition and change need not be opposites - as long as you believe in each other.
