SALONFÄHIG?
Theater Rampe, Stuttgart, Germany
AN INTERACTIVE PERFORMATIVE GAME ABOUT POWER, IDENTITY, AND TENDERNESS
SALONFÄHIG? is an interactive performance by the SWANZ collective. The audience becomes part of a fictional scenario unfolding in a dog salon that transforms into a space of encounter. Visitors with and without dogs are welcome. Everyone draws a number and receives a service catalog: cutting, washing, blow-drying, massage. What exactly will be performed remains open. The setting feels familiar, the rules seem clear. Yet within the game, meanings shift. A television plays in the waiting area; sounds emerge from an adjacent room. Visitors are called individually to meet the salon staff - as though attending an appointment at a dog salon. What happens there remains uncertain. One thing is sure: the established order can be shaken.
Who leads whom here? Who observes? Who is observed?
The dog salon becomes a playing field, and the audience shapes how the game unfolds. SALONFÄHIG? employs the format of a performative game to make social dynamics tangible and experiential. The work builds on earlier performances by the collective and responds to a time when discriminatory language becomes socially acceptable again and the visibility of queer, migrant, and non-normative people is questioned.
SALONFÄHIG? is a performative invitation to play together - and to renegotiate rules. A space for encounters, friction, and tenderness.
