In her production "The Birds", Greek choreographer Lenio Kaklea turns her gaze skyward. Drawing on Aristophanes' "The Birds" and Monique Wittig's "Les Guérillères", she approaches birds not merely as objects or inspiration but inhabits their perspective. Kaklea and her airborne dancers travel through space and time like migratory birds crossing national borders. The piece is built on bioacoustic recordings by Thierry Aubin, weaving a natural soundscape that draws the audience into a hybrid world. From this bird's-eye vantage point, Kaklea casts a sharp eye on a society where identity, visibility and power are in constant flux.

HELLERAU - Europäisches Zentrum der Künste is a historic arts centre in the garden city of Hellerau, Dresden's first garden city district. The Festspielhaus, built in 1911 by Heinrich Tessenow, was originally home to the Dalcroze Institute and became a pioneering stage for rhythm, dance and theatrical reform in early 20th-century Europe. Today it hosts contemporary dance, performance, theatre and interdisciplinary festivals, drawing artists and companies from across the continent.
