The Blind Passenger - A Play by Maria Lazar

Winter 1938, aboard a Danish cargo ship anchored in a German port. Just before the anchor is raised, a swimmer suddenly emerges from the icy water. The captain's son saves him from certain death and hides the stranger in the hold. He turns out to be a Jewish doctor fleeing the Nazis. But it is not long before the presence of the blind passenger on the small vessel cannot be concealed any longer.

"The Blind Passenger" is a psychologically dense drama that distils the political conditions of that era as if under a magnifying glass. The questions about individual and collective responsibility have lost none of their force to this day.
