The Tempest

A shipwreck. A remote island. A sorcerer who cannot forget his past - and a world where no one plays just a single role.

With "The Tempest", Shakespeare created a late work suspended between fairy tale, power play, and grotesque comedy. In tri-bühne's production, poetic language imagery collides with abrupt shifts in perspective, melancholic moments with absurd humour. The island becomes a place of inner and outer struggles: memories surface, identities waver, alliances shift. Characters appear doubled, contradict themselves, or lose control of their own stories.

Comedy emerges where power becomes ridiculous, language fails, and control suddenly turns to chaos. Joachim Lux's adaptation for a small ensemble takes Shakespeare's text seriously while playfully deconstructing it - with wit, darkness, and surprising tenderness.
