The Tempest

With "The Tempest", Shakespeare crafted a dazzling late work poised between fairy tale, power struggle and grotesque comedy. In tri-bühne's production, poetic imagery collides with abrupt shifts in perspective, melancholy moments with absurdist humour and clownish situations.

The island becomes a site of inner and outer conflict: memories surface, identities waver, alliances constantly shift. Characters appear doubled, contradict themselves or lose control of their own stories.

Between magic, deception and rebellion, the evening builds into a layered piece of theatre that takes Shakespeare's text seriously while gleefully dismantling it. Comedy emerges where power tips into the ridiculous, language breaks down and control suddenly gives way to chaos.

"The Tempest" reveals itself as a work that is equally poetic and anarchic - a chamber adaptation for a small ensemble, full of wit, darkness and unexpected tenderness.
