Nein zum Geld
Burg Alzenau, Germany
OFF:Main Theater, presented by protist - "Nein zum Geld"
Probably the most expensive NO in the world
A comedy by Flavia Coste, German translation by Michael Raab
The odds of hitting the jackpot in the lottery are 1 in 139,838,160.
What if you suddenly won - and said no? What would you do if your husband, son, or best friend wanted to shred, burn, or swallow a lottery ticket worth millions?
"Nein zum Geld" tells the story of Richard, who wants to make a grand, defiant gesture: after winning the lottery, he says "No" to the money. An unimaginable sum. Life could glitter gold from here on out. But Richard has a plan nobody sees coming - he simply doesn't want it. No joke. No test. No trick. Just a clear, categorical "No to money".
His wife Claire, his mother Rose, and Etienne - his best friend and business partner - find none of this funny. How far will the three of them go?
Flavia Coste's sharp comedy asks one simple question that changes everything: how much is money really worth to us?
With pointed wit and unexpected twists, "Nein zum Geld" is an evening of theatre that holds up a mirror with charm - full of surprises and questions we all ask ourselves sooner or later, whether we like it or not.
