About the book:
Spring 1525. Lower Franconia is consumed by the Peasant War. A vast army of rebels marches on Würzburg: the fortress of Marienberg, the princes' last stronghold, is to fall. Amid the chaos, the escaped serf Madlen returns to the city on the Main. After traumatic experiences in Florian Geyer's "Black Company," she longs for peace and security. Yet the sea of blood and tears once prophesied to her threatens to engulf Madlen and those she loves.
