Under the theme "Loblied des Tanzes" (Hymn to Dance), the TangoNacht takes place at St. Nicolai Church in Magdeburg as part of the Neustadt klingt festival. Parisian composer and pianist Gabriel Núñez wrote the tango piece "Loblied des Tanzes" specifically for this project - scored for the unusual combination of solo soprano, choir, organ, piano, bandoneon, xylophone and strings. The music shifts between exuberant dance joy and deep tenderness, rooted in tango idiom and driven by a jazzy pulse.

After the concert, the square in front of the church becomes a dance floor: the tango orchestra plays live, and anyone who wants to can dance tango themselves.
