Il Hebreo Mantovano - Salomone Rossi | A Jewish Composer at the Court of Mantua

An evening dedicated to Salomone Rossi, the Jewish composer who worked at the Gonzaga court in Mantua around the turn of the 17th century. Known as "Il Hebreo Mantovano" (the Mantuan Hebrew), Rossi was a remarkable figure of his era, composing secular music in the Renaissance and early Baroque styles as well as polyphonic settings of synagogue chants.

The event takes place at Ariowitsch-Haus in Leipzig.
