The operetta classic "Wiener Blut" by Johann Strauss (son) returns to the open-air stage at the Bierer Berg animal park. The "comic stage work" was first performed at this idyllically situated venue back in 2003.
The three-act operetta had its world premiere on 26 October 1899 at the Carltheater in Vienna. The libretto was written by Victor Léon and Leo Stein. At the heart of the story is the pleasure-seeking Count Balduin Zedlau, who struggles to keep his many affairs from colliding.
"Wiener Blut" is one of the earliest pastiche operettas, weaving together nostalgic and rarely heard melodies from the pen of the Waltz King.
