A book about coming home - and about places that know us better than we know ourselves.
When Leonard Beck checks his mail, he always braces for the worst. And indeed, it is an unassuming letter from his mother that calls him back after years to the Lower Rhine: a house is for sale. Although this house holds no fond memories, it draws him in.
He travels to his homeland, and thus into his past. He meets people who were once important to him. And again and again he stands before this unassuming house, whose secret he could not uncover back then. Now he wants to discover it, finally faces his fears - and his great love.
Jan Weiler, born in 1967 in Düsseldorf, is a journalist and writer. For many years he was editor-in-chief of SZ Magazine. In addition to his novels, Weiler writes columns, screenplays, radio plays and audiobooks, which he narrates himself. He lives in Munich and Umbria.
