Andreas Kümmert draws from a wide stylistic range - rock and blues, soul, infectious funk, big pop moments, and heartfelt gospel influences. His songs carry a strong personality, shaped by the credo of a man who answers to no one but himself. As a free spirit and individualist, Andreas knows what he's talking about. In 2013 he won the TV talent show "The Voice Of Germany". In 2015 he came first in the German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest under the banner "Unser Song für Österreich" - then turned down the spot live on camera.
Unlike most TV talent-show alumni, Kümmert has stayed consistently relevant and remains one of the most sought-after artists in soul, rock, and blues. His distinctive voice and knack for goosebump-inducing songs have taken him across Germany and Europe year after year - in 2019 he even sold out the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
In recent years he has taken full control of his career, running his own label Vomit Records and making music entirely on his own terms. His new album "Working Class Hero" covers every side of the artist - from hard-driving rock'n'roll tracks to sweeping ballads. It also includes a newly recorded version of "Rocket Man", the Elton John song he sang at his "The Voice" blind audition. The track has followed him ever since, earning him the nickname that captures something real about him: a grounded, down-to-earth character who ignites the moment he steps on stage. "That song is simply part of my story," says Kümmert. "I play it live too, and I figured it deserved a place on an album."
