Matthias Vogt, who received the Cultural Prize of the City of Rüsselsheim last year, opens the new Jazz-Fabrik season with this concert. Known primarily as a pianist and bandleader (re:jazz) as well as a DJ and remixer, he now sets out to find the middle ground between those two worlds - bringing improvisation and electronics together under one roof. For this project he spent considerable time exploring new machines and software: "It was like learning a new instrument."

Originally conceived as a solo project, he performs at Jazz-Fabrik with two guests. Singer Maura has established herself in the Berlin scene at the crossroads of soul and trip-hop; trumpeter Joo Kraus is a well-known figure on the German scene who built his reputation between jazz and drum'n'bass alongside bassist Hellmut Hattler (Tab Two).
