Think binge-watching, but live and up close: in Nesterval's productions, the audience follows individual characters through a web of scenes - much like moving through an elaborate film set, the storytelling draws you across different narrative threads and spaces. The Vienna-based queer folk-theater group makes their Berlin debut with a site-specific work created for Sophiensæle: Nestervals Eldorado. At its heart is the queer history of Berlin's Scheunenviertel district and the area around Sophiensæle during the Nazi dictatorship. Drawing on the biographies of gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans* people who were systematically persecuted and murdered, Nesterval weaves fiction and historical reality into a moving narrative.
