This is binge-watching meets live theater - up close and personal. The Vienna-based queer folk-theater group Nesterval guides audiences through a maze of scenes, each following individual characters across interlocking storylines and spaces, much like a camera weaving through an elaborate film set. Making their Berlin debut, the troupe has created a site-specific work for Sophiensæle: Nestervals Eldorado. The piece centers on queer history in Berlin's Scheunenviertel neighborhood and around the Sophiensæle building during the Nazi dictatorship. Drawing on the biographies of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans* people who were systematically persecuted and murdered, Nesterval weaves fiction and historical reality into a moving narrative.
