Cora Chilcott - Marlene Dietrich - The Passionate Diva

A musical-literary soiree with actress and singer Cora Chilcott - at the piano: Volker Jaekel.

Marlene Dietrich, the embodiment of the femme fatale, was - like her film characters - a modern, independent woman throughout her life, who confidently shaped her own image: from seductively feminine to androgynously masculine. She was equally renowned for her many romantic liaisons with acting legends, writers, and women. The programme weaves colourful anecdotes from her life together with the diva's most celebrated hits and chansons.

Cora Chilcott studied acting at the Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg and completed, among other things, a master class in chanson with Gisela May. From 2001 to 2014 she was an actress at the Berliner Ensemble and toured Germany and various European countries with her solo theatre programmes.

Volker Jaekel studied piano, organ, and conducting in Halle/Saale, Leipzig, Weimar, and Berlin; he works as a pianist, organist, choral director, and composer in Berlin. Concert tours have taken him across Europe and overseas. Chilcott and Jaekel have performed together at various Brecht festivals and at the International Thuringian Bach Weeks.
