Cinderella
Theater Am Spalterhals, Barsinghausen, Germany
Cinderella really doesn't have it easy. A stepsister who bullies her, a wicked stepmother who always wrongs her and sets tasks that are impossible to complete. And her father is away on a journey.
But don't worry: our production keeps the humour firmly in place, and in the end the stepmother and stepsister do more harm to themselves than to Cinderella, which only makes their bad moods worse. They do everything in their power to stop Cinderella from accepting the charming page's invitation to the prince's celebration - because this is the big chance to become queen, and the prince is looking for a bride!
Luckily, fairy tales have magic: at the hazel tree, Cinderella receives a ball gown from elfin hands and manages to meet her prince after all. Although she is the only one who came simply to dance - or perhaps because of that - she and the prince have a wonderful time together: they play, secretly eat ice cream, and tease the loyal and clever court steward.
And even though Cinderella must be home by midnight and flees, the prince and his page eventually find her again - no other girl (not even from the audience) can fit the delicate slipper she left behind at the celebration.
