Hans Albers was far more than the cliché of the singing sailor: as the biggest male star of the Ufa studio, he ranked alongside Marlene Dietrich and the Comedian Harmonists. His vocal style was an inspiration to Udo Lindenberg, Rio Reiser and Herbert Grönemeyer. His authentic, direct acting shaped German sound cinema like no one else. His role in the films of the Third Reich remains controversial - he was equally used and despised by "Dr. Goehhhbels", as Albers mockingly called the propaganda minister.

The show is a cannonball ride through a life of light and shadow, featuring well-known songs such as "Komm auf die Schaukel, Luise", "Hoppla, jetzt komm ich" and "La Paloma" - alongside lesser-known musical gems that Dirk Witthuhn and Wolfgang Völkl fish up from the Albers seabed.
