Tobi or not Tobi - Premiere

Tobias Hengstmann on his high horse? TOBI or not TOBI? Shakespeare? Has Tobias Hengstmann lost the plot? Not at all! He was simply looking for a title for his new show - one that audiences would actually like, and that would get them to buy tickets. Because so far he has had terrible luck picking titles for his solo programmes.

His brother Sebastian Hengstmann has been performing his solo show "Niemand mag Klugscheißer" to great success for four years now. And it was not Sebastian who came up with that title - it was Tobias. Unfair? No, those are the facts. And you can't argue with facts, as everyone knows. Opinions are a different matter. So is the past, and above all the future. Everything happening in this world, in this country, and in this city is what Tobias Hengstmann reflects on in his new programme. Not on horseback, though - but behind a microphone, partly standing free, and occasionally behind a lectern.

What many people don't know: for four years now, Tobias Hengstmann has been invited to deliver the keynote address at the youth celebration organised by the Junge Humanisten at the Johanniskirche in Magdeburg. The central question was: what do you say to young people setting out into adulthood? And what happens when you desperately want to go off on tangents during the speech - to muse about life - but can't, because you only have eight minutes?

In his new solo show, that very speech is finally delivered - and thoroughly expanded. Everything gets covered and commented on: the depths of human relationships, politics, and the neighbourly fabric of society. Tobias Hengstmann holds nothing back, because in this programme the speech notes are literally lying in front of him. Everything else will be funny, possibly musical, and definitely topical.
