Tobi or not Tobi - Premiere

Tobias Hengstmann launches his new solo show - and this time the title really does say it all. By his own admission, he has always had bad luck naming his programmes; it was actually he who came up with "Niemand mag Klugscheißer", the format his brother Sebastian Hengstmann has been performing to great success for four years now.

The evening takes its cue from a real event: for four years, Tobias Hengstmann has delivered the keynote speech at the Jungen Humanisten youth celebration in Magdeburg's Johanniskirche - eight minutes, a young audience, no rambling allowed. His new show finally gives him the space to do it properly. The speech gets its full airing - and then some.

What emerges is a commentary on human relationships, politics and social life - sometimes musical, always topical. Tobias Hengstmann doesn't preach from a pulpit; he stands behind a microphone, occasionally freestanding, briefly behind a lectern.
