Music educator Heike Schuhmacher welcomes you to our world of sound and guides you on a hands-on journey through the orchestra's full range of instruments. Both you and your children are welcome to touch, explore, and try them all out.

A guided tour of the philharmonic follows, with plenty of room for questions: where are all the scores kept, and who keeps moving the chairs and music stands around? How do the orchestra's instruments even fit into the big truck when the ensemble goes on tour? And what does the percussionists' treasure trove look like?

The visit ends in the rehearsal hall - the beating heart of the building. It's a rare chance to sit in the trumpeter's chair or on the bassist's stool, or even to stand for a moment at the podium of chief conductor Michael Francis.
