Romantic Classics
Born in Cologne in 1958, this guitarist began studying his instrument at just 13 years old under renowned teachers. By 1975, at age 17, he placed second at the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert competition. That same year, he enrolled in classical guitar studies at Hochschule für Musik Köln and went on to win numerous awards. He refined his craft through many master classes. As a professor at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar and Universität der Künste in Berlin, he now teaches master classes to his own students. Concert tours have taken him to approximately 40 countries worldwide, including the Americas and North Africa. He regularly performs at international guitar festivals, including this year's event in Speyer.
He is particularly devoted to chamber music, collaborating with flautist Wally Hase and violinist Friedemann Eichhorn, with whom he performed in Speyer in 2016. His duo concerts with guitar virtuoso Manuel Barrueco are also noteworthy. Since 2007, he has been a member of the prestigious United Guitar Ensemble. Müller-Pering masters diverse periods and styles of classical guitar literature, with a preference for expressive, romantic playing. In classical music, emotional depth is as vital as technical precision-a conviction that has shaped an entire generation of his students. He excels in both dimensions.
In Speyer, he will perform works by Isaac Albéniz, Fernando Sor, Federico Moreno-Torroba, Joaquín Rodrigo, and Agustín Barrios Mangoré.
