Frieder Bernius and the Kammerchor Stuttgart return to Wedel to close the Wedel Music Days - their first a cappella concert in 2023 attracted attention far beyond the city. The fact that the ensemble shapes the closing concert on German Unity Day lends the festival finale additional significance.

Under the title "a Cappella", Bernius and his ensemble present a programme for unaccompanied voices that combines double-choir motets by Johann Sebastian Bach and Gottfried August Homilius with Knut Nystedt's "Immortal Bach" and Mendelssohn's "Te Deum". Bach's and Homilius's motets work with juxtaposition and tonal gradation - choir answers choir. Nystedt's "Immortal Bach" translates this heritage into an extended, floating contemporary sound, while Mendelssohn's "Te Deum" ultimately sets a festive full stop in the spirit of the 19th century.
