Girls Don't Cry

Six girls from six countries speak about their longing for a self-determined life - the desire to fall in love, free from paternalism and from others' control over their own bodies. Their defiance and self-confidence come through clearly, as does the social pressure, prejudice, and violence they have to navigate.

Together, the six portraits offer a sensitive and deeply unsettling look at the realities of young women's lives. The documentary by German director Sigrid Klausmann has received multiple international awards.
