The Story of Jazz Vol. 11 - "Ella!" - Ella Fitzgerald, the Queen of Jazz

The Kulturinstitut presents the eleventh instalment of the concert series "The Story of Jazz", conceived by saxophonist Alexander Hartmann. This edition focuses on Ella Fitzgerald - celebrated as the "First Lady of Song" and "Queen of Jazz", renowned for her flawless intonation and scat singing.

Despite a difficult childhood, she broke through in 1934 at the Apollo Theater talent contest in New York. Over a career spanning more than 50 years, she recorded over 200 albums, won 14 Grammy Awards, and collaborated with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Her musical legacy stretches from swing and bebop far beyond the boundaries of jazz.
