Niñxs - Life Glitters

The film follows trans teenager Karla over eight years in Tepoztlán, Mexico. Through open conversations with filmmaker Kani Lapuerta, a portrait emerges that centers friendship, self-determination, and hope - weaving reality with fantasy. The film reveals the challenges of trans identity in rural settings while capturing Karla's transition into adulthood.

"The documentary succeeds in presenting a multifaceted image of life as a trans person. Yet the film is full of joy in living, precisely because Karla is such a remarkable and captivating protagonist (...). Thus 'Niñxs' is ultimately a life-affirming film that stands out as a shining example among the many tragic portrayals of trans people - exactly as Karla herself wished." (Source: Missy Magazin)
