The Olchis Under the Magician's Spell - Performance with Fireworks
Freilichtbühne Billerbeck e.V., Germany
Family play 2026 by Freilichtbühne Billerbeck e.V.
The Olchis are poisonously green, with hair like wire, ears on their heads, and thick lumpy noses. They live on the garbage dump in Schmuddelfing, love stench, eat shoe soles, wallow in mud - and are quite popular with their neighbours because they keep the town clean. Occasionally, the seven-member family takes flight on their magical dragon. Life could be wonderful, if only the cultural association weren't planning to build a concert hall right there.
When the circus comes to town, the Olchis are invited too. There are tightrope walkers, clowns, a llama - all lovely. But what fascinates them most is the magician Spirelli, who immediately chooses Grandma Olchi as his assistant and hypnotizes her. Under his influence, she even eats a fresh onion - poisonous for Olchis, of course - and breaks out in colourful spots all over her body. The family wants to rescue Grandma from the clutches of the sinister magician and turns to Professor Brausewein from Gammelsberg, a friendly inventor. His solution: a specially developed anti-hypnosis spray.
Whether the Olchis manage to save Grandma, prevent the concert hall from being built, and solve the theft of a golden statue is shown in this play with rock songs and choreography on the big open-air stage.
