Planet of the Hares — Hans Otto Theater / Reithalle, Potsdam

Life is really good for these two hares: they have nothing to do but occasionally hop into the pool, whose water adjusts its own temperature. Their swimming trunks change colour every ten seconds, and with the help of very modern robots and inventions, the hares can have anything they want. A four-poster bed that guarantees rest, for instance, or a gummy-bear machine that never stops producing gummy bears. There have never been hares who had it so good.

The only thing that might worry them is that their planet is supposed to explode in ten days. But is that really worth bothering about? Maybe it isn't even true - then they would have worried for nothing. In eleven days, one of the hares has a pedicure appointment, so things can't be all that bad. Yet the other hare's instinct keeps nagging until he is certain: what is coming their way is not good. But what can the two of them do? Where can they go? How do you stop a big bang?

In Tina Müller's play for children, two hares argue in a playful, musical way, leaning into their differences to reach insights about climate change. By drawing the audience's own world into the story, they try to find ideas for a way out of their dilemma.
