Bad Bentheim, Germany
Burg Bentheim is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval hill castles in northwestern Germany, rising above the town of Bad Bentheim on a sandstone ridge. Its origins date back to the 11th century, and the castle served for centuries as the seat of the Counts of Bentheim. Today it houses a museum and hosts cultural events, concerts and open-air performances in its historic courtyards.

A costumed historical walking tour of Bad Bentheim, led by the Kuhlkerl - a former sandstone quarry worker - tracing the story of local stone-cutting from the quarry to the historic Batavia Gate.

A walk around the outer walls of Burg Bentheim with views of the medieval fortress and the surrounding countryside. Free entry with the Bad Bentheim guest card.
