About the venue

Friedrichsplatz in Kassel is one of the largest squares in Germany, laid out in the 18th century and flanked by the neoclassical Museum Fridericianum. The square has served as the central venue for documenta, the internationally renowned contemporary art exhibition held every five years, since 1955.
