About the venue

The Stadtkirche Sankt Peter und Paul - known locally as the Herderkirche - is a late-Gothic hall church in the centre of Weimar. It houses a large triptych altarpiece by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Younger, completed around 1555. Johann Gottfried Herder preached here for decades, which is how the church earned its popular name. Today it serves as both an active parish church and a venue for concerts and cultural events.
